Detection Video Analytics

Detection is a type of video analytics that determines unwanted or suspicious behavior based on the change in pixels that an IP surveillance cameras sees. The area of pixel change observation is drawn by the administrator in the graphic user interface of the IP surveillance system. Many brands now offer this video analytic such as AXIS Communications, and Hikvision.

When an entity, whether human, object, animal, or vehicle moves in the monitored area, the system recognizes it as a cause for alarm; alerting the administrator of this unwanted or suspicious behavior. From here on out, this is called an “event’. More advanced detection video analytics are also paired with human body, animal, and vehicle recognition in order to reduce the occurrence of false positive alarms.

Some events that we can monitor using detection video analytics are:

Thermal Detection

1. Thermal Detection

Video Analytics to read the temperatures of people. It can be used for detecting people who have fever; and entities (humans, animals) in areas with little light or at nighttime.

Motion Detection Video Analytics of people in the office

2. Motion Detection

Video analytics that detects a change in position of an object relative to its surroundings. Used for detecting vehicles or people that should not be in a particular area (i.e. intruders).

Crowd Detection at the MRT

3. Crowd Detection

Video analytics to detect maximum quantity or density of people in a specified area. Used for crowd control, identifying public disturbances like large unauthorized meet ups, and implementing social distancing.

4. Queue Detection

Video analytics to detect unwanted queues. Used for improving wait times and assigning more staff at the most productive store times.

Occupancy Estimator

5. Occupancy Detection

Video analytics to detect the quantity of people remaining in a particular area as they enter and exit. Used for monitoring area capacity, store productivity, and implementing social distancing.

Loitering Detection

6. Loitering Detection

Video analytics to detect if a person or object stays in an area for a long period of time. Used to detect loiterers in private property, and vehicles in non-parking areas.

Abandoned Bag Object Detection

7. Abandoned Object Detection

Video analytics to detect if an object is left at a certain location. Used for detecting suspicious and/or lost items.

Asset Protection of a Painting in a Museum

8. Asset Protection

Video analytics to detect if a valuable object is removed from its assigned location. This is used to trigger an alarm when an object is taken away without authorization, preventing theft and helping find lost items as the are dropped in the secured area.
